Did you receive a fly rod and reel as a gift and don't really know how to use it? Or maybe you went on a guided fishing trip and now you want a lesson to learn more, so you can go out on your own? After you complete our four hour Intro to Fly Fishing class, you will have learned the basic skills you need to confidently take to the water on your own and have fun!
The class is a one day, four hour class that begins with 2 hours of classroom instruction at the shop. We'll start by covering equipment basics, knots, basic rigging, the basics of dry fly fishing and nymphing, and the basics of entomology and how it applies to fly selection.
The second part of the class is conducted on the water at a nearby park where students are taught the fundamentals of casting, basics of getting a good drift, how to read the water, fish handling and catch & release concepts, and river etiquette and stewardship.
All equipment is provided.
